eMotion Fleet Inc. (“eMotion Fleet”), an one-stop EV fleet solution provider, has signed a partnership agreement with Shizen Connect Inc. (“Shizen Connect”), a leading developer of Virtual Power Plant (VPP)*1 platforms. The agreement aims to jointly provide demand response (DR)*2 services through the remote control of electric vehicles, thereby unlocking new economic value from EV batteries.

Under this partnership, eMotion Fleet’s proprietary Fleet & Energy Management System (FMS/EMS) will be integrated with Shizen Connect’s energy aggregation platform “Shizen Connect,” enabling the construction and provision of a large-scale, unified energy management system for commercial EV fleets.

eMotion Fleet offers one-stop fleet electrification support to logistics and transportation businesses to plan, deploy, and operate commercial EV fleets.  As EV fleet sizes grow, it is becoming increasingly important not only to ensure high vehicle uptime, but also to optimize charging costs and tap into revenue opportunities in the energy market through battery utilization.

Shizen Connect, a leading platform provider in the rapidly evolving VPP sector, brings advanced AI and IoT technologies that enable accurate forecasting of market prices, generation, and demand, as well as optimized energy trading and control. Its platform is known for its flexibility in integrating with a wide range of distributed energy resources and meeting diverse control needs.

The two companies have already collaborated in a proof-of-concept project for optimal charging of electric buses. This new agreement marks the beginning of a full-scale strategic collaboration, combining both companies’ technological capabilities and market insights.

Through this initiative, eMotion Fleet will further support the commercialization of advanced energy management using large-scale EV fleets, promoting both enhanced economic efficiency and the realization of a decarbonized society.

Notes:
*1 Virtual Power Plant (VPP): A system that remotely integrates and controls distributed energy resources—such as solar panels, batteries, electric vehicles, and demand-side devices—so they function as a single virtual power plant.
*2 Demand Response (DR): A method of adjusting electricity usage on the demand side to balance supply and demand on the power grid.
