eMotion Fleet Inc. (“eMotion Fleet”) has been selected for the “Local Innovation Challenge HOKKAIDO 2025”, an open innovation program promoted by the management office of Local Innovation Challenge HOKKAIDO 2025.

“Local Innovation Challenge HOKKAIDO 2025” is an open innovation project that leverages the vast field of Hokkaido to foster collaboration between domestic and international startups, local governments, and regional companies to solve social and environmental issues. The program supports the creation of sustainable, locally rooted solutions by encouraging joint demonstration projects between startups and regional stakeholders. Selected companies receive financial assistance for demonstration costs, field coordination with municipalities and businesses, PR support, and workspace access in Sapporo.

As one of the selected projects, eMotion Fleet will conduct a demonstration under the theme “Promoting EV introduction and decarbonization initiatives in cold regions” in Kushiro Town, Hokkaido. The company will install telematics devices in the town’s official vehicles to collect and analyze operational data, visualizing the efficiency of currently deployed EVs. Based on metrics such as mileage, energy consumption, and charging patterns, eMotion Fleet will propose operational improvements and quantitatively evaluate cost reduction and CO₂ savings achieved by transitioning from internal combustion engine vehicles to EVs.

The project will also analyze how low temperatures and heating use affect battery performance and energy consumption in cold climates, aiming to establish an optimized EV operation and charging management model suited to regional conditions. Through this initiative, eMotion Fleet seeks to optimize EV deployment and operational efficiency in Kushiro Town and contribute to creating a model case for decarbonized mobility operations across Hokkaido.

Building on its experience supporting logistics operators, public transportation providers, and local governments, eMotion Fleet continues to deliver one-stop solutions for commercial EV planning, deployment, and operation. With this selection, the company will further advance the realization of sustainable EV operations in cold regions and promote community-based decarbonization efforts.
