— Integrated Multi-Brand EV Bus Management Starts at Island City Bus Depot in April —

eMotion Fleet Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; CEO Shuji Shiraki and CTO Dennis Ilic; hereinafter "eMotion Fleet"), an one-stop EV fleet solution provider, is pleased to announce the launch of its proprietary Energy Management System (hereinafter "EMS") for Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City; hereinafter "Nishitetsu"), the largest bus fleet operator in Japan. Full-scale operations will commence in April 2026.

eMotion Fleet’s EMS will enable advanced smart charging by integrating cloud-based management of multi-brand electric buses and charging equipment at Nishitetsu’s Island City Bus Depot (Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City). The system will optimize electricity costs through peak shaving, enhance on-site operational efficiency, and support fleet decarbonization.

■ Background and Objectives

The Nishitetsu Group has already introduced over 50 "Retrofit EV Buses" (diesel buses converted to EV) as part of its goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and plans to expand its EV fleet.

With the introduction of new domestic EV bus in their fleet, two urgent challenges emerged: the integrated management of a multi-brand fleet and charging infrastructure, and the suppression of power peaks (reducing electricity costs) as the number of vehicles increases. eMotion Fleet’s EMS was selected for its strength in high-level energy control synchronized with operation schedules, regardless of the vehicle manufacturer. Through the Island City Bus Depot project, the goal is to establish a standard operational model for large-scale EV adoption.

As Nishitetsu deployed new domestic EV buses in their fleet, they faced two key challenges: managing increasingly complex multi-brand fleets and charging infrastructure, and mitigating rising electricity demand peaks to control energy costs. In response, eMotion Fleet’s EMS has been selected for its unmatched capability to seamlessly integrate multi-brand assets and deliver advanced energy optimization tightly synchronized with operational schedules. At the Island City Bus Depot, this initiative will establish a scalable, best-practice operating model for large-scale electrified fleet deployment.

■ eMotion Fleet EMS Key Features

1. Integrated Management of Multi-Brand Vehicles

The EMS provides unified management for a total of nine vehicles currently stationed at the Island City Bus Depot, including "Retrofit EV Buses" and Isuzu Motors’ "ERGA EV".

2. Automated Peak Shaving Linked to Operation Schedules

The system automatically synchronizes daily operation schedules (timetables) with charging plans. It ensures the necessary charge for the next day's operations while performing sophisticated peak shaving through variable output control. Fleet manager only need to assign vehicles, leaving complex charging management and cost optimization entirely to the system.

3. Charging Authentication to Minimize On-site Burden

The system accurately links various combinations of different EV bus models and chargers with on-site operations. Drivers simply plug into an available charger and perform a designated authentication step. The design prioritizes reducing the workload for staff by eliminating the need for complex decision-making or manual adjustments on the floor.

■ Future Outlook

Based on the operational results of this project, eMotion Fleet will reinforce its solutions for the advanced automation of increasingly complex EV fleet operations and energy management. We remain committed to lowering the barriers of fleet electrification for Nishitetsu and other transportation fleets across Japan, contributing to a mobility society where operators lead the way in balancing decarbonization with fleet economics.
